Blackheads are the result of dilated pores, which create the perfect environment for sebum accumulation. Dermatology specialists explain that sebaceous gland terminations reach the skin surface, while the sebum produced oxidizes in the contact with air, appearing that black color.
Blackheads appear most often in the T–zone face area: forehead, nose and chin. Usually, the skin from these areas produces a bigger quantity of sebum, becoming greasy. This isn’t really a bad thing because sebum has the ability to protect the skin from bacteria and delays the aging process.
